The DirecTV IPTV service Go is set to undergo a name change to Sky+. The rebranding will begin on December 6, 2023, aiming to unify the company’s operations. The announcement was made by Media & Message in a recent statement. The transition will impact new subscribers first and will be implemented gradually.

DirecTV Go is set to be renamed Sky+.

Upon its introduction to Brazil in December 2020, the service was known as DirecTV Go, offering subscription plans with up to 72 channels starting at R$ 59.90. Subsequently, the platform underwent modifications, including a name change to DGO.

The company aims to consolidate its services under the unified name Sky+, capitalizing on the existing brand recognition of DirecTV, which operated in Brazil as a satellite TV provider in the 1990s and 2000s. The brand, managed by the Werthein Group and shared with Sky, was reintroduced in Brazil in 2020 through an IPTV platform.

The brand’s revival did not align with the company’s expectations for progression. The company acknowledges the platform’s technical efficiency but emphasizes the future focus on enhancing distribution and connectivity with other Sky services.

The company’s CEO, Gustavo Fonseca, announced to the Media and Message that the renaming process will start slowly, initially affecting new subscribers, and will be communicated to existing users through notifications until the transition is finished.

The name Sky+ will only be used in Brazil, while in other countries, the platform will still be known as DGO, as confirmed by the operator to Tecnoblog.

Enhancements have been made

Sky+ may come with enhancements to the service, such as new channels and a feature allowing three simultaneous streams on various devices.

Currently, DGO provides two plan options: a monthly plan for R$89.90 and a monthly plan with Paramount+ at a promotional price of R$69.90 per month. Both plans include a catalog of over 70 channels, exclusive content, and support for up to two simultaneous accesses.
