Notepad and Microsoft Store for Windows 11 have introduced fresh features in the preview version available on the Canary (Build 26010) and Dev (Build 23601) channels for Insiders. The update includes the added feature of character counting in Notepad. To access these updates, participation in the Windows Insider Program via the Microsoft page is required.

Notebook
Version 11.2311.29.0 of Notepad for Windows 11 on Canary and Dev channels included the following enhancements:
- Edit files in Notepad directly within File Explorer by right-clicking the file and choosing “Edit in Notepad”.

- You can now view the number of characters entered in the Notepad status bar located below the application window. If you select a portion of text, you will be shown the character count for that selection as well as the total character count for the entire file.

Microsoft Store
In Microsoft Store for Windows 11 version 22311.xxxx.x (or later) in Canary and Dev channels, the following features were added:
- You can now download and install apps from the Microsoft Store without having to remain on the same page, allowing you to browse for other apps simultaneously.
- Downloading apps is now more convenient with the option to simply hover the mouse cursor over an app card to access the download and installation buttons.
- Microsoft’s Instant Game Library (No Download) Store offers improved game discovery with a dedicated homepage for new titles, making it easier to find them.
