Windows 11 is adding WhatsApp to the share menu, with the new sharing option available in the Preview version of Build 22635.2850 on the Beta channel for Insiders. Learn more about Microsoft’s strategy for incorporating apps into the OS file sharing feature.
WhatsApp is visible in the Windows 11 sharing options.

The KB5032283 Windows 11 update in the beta channel of the Windows Insider Program included WhatsApp in the operating system’s share window. Now, WhatsApp will show up when choosing the “share using” option, with an “install” button for those who don’t have the app.

Microsoft plans to test the sharing feature with apps other than WhatsApp to eventually have a file-sharing system similar to that on mobile devices.
In the trial version of Windows 11, Microsoft has improved the file sharing feature by automatically activating Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when attempting to share a file. The functionality will be disabled if Bluetooth is turned off.
Introduction and release dates
The sharing feature on WhatsApp is expected to be available in the stable release of Windows 11 in February alongside the debut of the operating system’s “Moment 5” update.
